Would you like to come to work in The Netherlands? Facts show that The Netherlands is becoming one of the most popular destinations for immigrants. Even though the Netherlands is one of the smallest countries in Europe, it is indeed one of the richest and most important countries on the continent. The Netherlands economically is very stable, supported by important industries such as agriculture, food processing, gas, oil and chemicals. The country is one of the leading EU countries with a majority of foreign investment. Presently in the Netherlands advantageous tax conditions have attracted about 5,000 foreign investors. With 3.5% unemployment rate, the country offers a major work force in Europe.

If you wish to come to work in the Netherlands, you need to meet certain conditions and requirements. If you are a citizen of one of these EU countries ( Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, Greece, Malta and Cyprus-Greek part), you do not need a working permit. However, if you wish to stay for more than 3 months, you have to register with the IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service), who will place a sticker in your passport. All EEA citizens with a valid residence permit have the same rights as Dutch Nationals regarding social security, working conditions, housing and pensions.

If your are a citizen of one of these EU countries( Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia), you need to apply for a work permit. Normally the employer applies for your work permit.

Unless you are an EU citizen, excluding Bulgaria or Romania, EER or Swiss national, a work permit is required if you intend to work in the Netherlands.
